  • Priority Boarding: Confirmed bookings receive high uplift priority onto the flight.
  • Dedicated Support: Our sales and customer service team is ready to assist with any queries.
  • Shipment Tracking: Stay informed with tracking options for your animal’s journey.

To ensure safe transportation, animals must be housed in secure containers that meet the following criteria:

  • Durability: Containers should be robust and resistant to freight damage.
  • Escape Prevention: The design must prevent the animal from escaping through any gaps.
  • Ventilation: Adequate ventilation is required on at least three sides, with most airflow provided from the upper section.
  • Size Restrictions: Containers must not exceed dimensions of L240cm x W114cm x H76cm, with a maximum weight of 150kg to fit in our aircraft cargo holds.

Each container must be clearly labeled with:

  • The shipper’s full name, address, and 24-hour contact number.
  • The scientific and common name of the animal(s) as per the shipper’s certificate.
  • The number of animals inside the container.
  • A warning label if the animal bites, such as “THIS ANIMAL BITES.”
  • Instructions for feeding and watering.
  • Details of any medication administered prior to shipping.

To ensure a smooth process, the shipper must provide the following documents:

  • Shipper’s Certificate: Attach the shipper’s certificate (link provided for download).
  • Transfer Certificate: Required for animals in transit; contact your local Uganda Airlines Cargo office.
  • Permits: Obtain and provide both import and export permits.
  • Health and Vaccination Certificates: Valid certificates must be attached to the air waybill (AWB).
  • Shipper’s Certificate: As required for shipping.

  • Advance Booking: Ensure bookings are made at least 48 hours before departure.
  • Food and Water Receptacles: Provide separate, accessible containers inside or attached to the main container, with rounded edges and made from non-toxic materials.
  • Feeding Instructions: Include clear feeding and watering instructions at the time of acceptance, and attach them to the container and shipping documents.
  • Food Compliance: Ensure that any food provided complies with the regulations of the transit or destination country.
  • Pre-Flight Preparation: Give your pet a long walk before the flight and feed it 6-8 hours prior to takeoff, offering only small amounts of water.
  • Tranquilization: It is generally not advised to tranquilize animals before air travel due to the risk of a dangerous drop in blood pressure at altitude. Consult your vet for advice.

  • Breed Compliance: Ensure compliance with breed restrictions per country.
  • Size Limitation: The size of the aircraft cargo hold door limits the size of the animal’s container that can be accepted.
  • Cabin Transport Restrictions: Uganda Airlines does not accept pets in the cabin, except for guide dogs. Pets must be transported as cargo, not through the airport check-in desk.
  • Country-Specific Regulations: Different countries have varying regulations for animals in transit or being imported. Contact your nearest Uganda Airlines Cargo office for detailed information.
